Dr. Kemi Dasilva-ibru, founder of Women at Risk International Foundation, (WARIF) has said that her new initiative tagged “Boys Conversation Cafe” was established to raise awareness and address the frequency of sexual assault through the development of a series, which also Sets out to change some of the preconceived notions and mind-sets of assaults against male children too.

In the interview, she revealed that “When we talk about rape and sexual violence we forget that in one out of four girls is a survivor of rape before age eighteen and also for boys there is one in eight boys who is a survivor of rape and sexual abuse, Anita added that Boys also live in an environment that is dysfunctional to say the least”.

“When we address rape in the society typically the most vulnerable group are women”

Elsewhere in the interview, Dasilva-ibru, shed some insight on what it was like to kick start the first phase of  this pilot program which was recently concluded was establishing the exiting mindset through the administration of questionnaires by qualified WARIF facilitators
