Just two days after her Jackie O–inspired cover shoot for Interview‘s September issue made its (controversial) debut, Kim Kardashian West is channeling yet another icon on yet anothermagazine cover. The reality star took a page out of Cher‘s style guide for the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, and the reactions are mixed.
The magazine revealed the glamorous cover on its official Instagram page on Wednesday. In the photo, Kim wears a black sparkly fringed dress, butt-length hair extensions, extra-luscious eyelashes, strong brows, and glowy, contoured makeup. Photographer Mariano Vivanco also shared several more images from the shoot on his own Instagram, including another intimate cover shot, in which Kim sits barefoot on the ground with her super-long hair trailing around her, and one black-and-white pic of Kim sitting on the ground in an over-the-top, beaded minidress and strappy metallic heels.
In the accompanying story, Kim calls Cher her “No. 1 style icon” and describes what she loves so much about the “Believe” singer, with whom she shares her Armenian heritage. “She’s always had the sickest style, I’m obsessed with her,” Kim said. “To think that she was wearing these sheer dresses in the ’70s and just what people must have thought back then.”
This isn’t the first time Kim, 36, has expressed her love for the Goddess of Pop. In April, the Kardashian family met Cher on the red carpet of The Promise, a film about the Armenian genocide of the early 1900s, after which Kim posted a photo of her, her sister Kourtney, and Cher on Instagram. “Cher! Need I say more! My fashion icon and fellow Armenian. What a proud moment this was. We will #KeepThePromise and make sure everyone hears the Armenian story 🇦🇲 ,” Kim captioned the pic. And in May, in honor of Cher’s 71st birthday, the KUWTK star posted several photos of the singer’s most iconic looks on Instagram. “Happy Birthday to my fashion icon Armenian Queen Cher!” she captioned one of the pics.
While some people love Kim’s new shoot channeling Cher, others are tired of seeing the reality star dressing up as other icons.
